2015 New Year’s Resolutions for Your Home

The holiday decorations have been put away, the extended family have gone back home and the New Year’s parties have all past. Now what? Typically, people make a personal New Year’s Resolution such as eat healthier, spend more time at home or lose weight. But how about making a New Year’s Resolution for your home? Here are some great resolutions for your home in 2015.

Plant a garden. Create a space for relaxation, and it’s a great way to get the family involved. This can even be an all year activity by creating an indoor herb garden for the winter months and a larger, outdoor vegetable or flower garden for the spring and summer. This can also bring color and curb appeal to your home, which is an added bonus.

Get the family involved. Find a project the whole family can have a say in or help to complete. This can be as simple as painting a room to creating a white board wall the family can leave notes on. This can be added to another New Year’s Resolution- spend more time together as a family!

Keep the home in tip top shape. Create a maintenance sheet along with when each task needs to be accomplished to keep your home in its best shape. This can be just for you, or get the whole family involved by creating tasks for each family member. To get the kids involved, you could even include a reward system.

Make your house safe for 2015. Get your home inspected for any possible dangers including fire safety and air inspection, mold and carbon monoxide testing. You can also create an emergency plan in case of disaster. This can be an evacuation plan for fires, earthquakes or tornados or an emergency kit for power outages. Not only is this a great way to be prepared for the year, but will also bring you peace of mind knowing you are completely prepared.

Build a new custom home. Talk about a refresh. Make 2015 the year to plan and build that new custom home tailored to your family’s needs, tastes and lifestyle. Give us a call, we would be happy to help you create the home of your dreams.

Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions for your home we should add to our list? Happy 2015, may your New Year be filled with good health, happiness and plenty of projects around your home!
