The Italianate architecture of this 1-1/2 story home was designed for the homeowner wanting something a little more unexpected today yet still classic and beautiful. Italianate architecture, loosely inspired by Italian villas, got popularized in the United States in the mid- to late 1800s. Some of the hallmarks of its design are simple rectangular shape dressed up with columned entryways and elaborate ornamentation at trim, cornices, porches, etc. Elegant trimmings and fine finishes are carried inside with a stunning foyer with domed and lit ceiling, curved stair, and beautiful stone floor. Rich stained, detailed paneling grace the library with wet bar and fireplace. Painted paneling and woodwork is found throughout most of the home, but the kitchen, breakfast and hearth room were also accented with richly stained baseboards. The other areas of the home had such an elegant and formal feel, the stained woodwork in this area was used to create a space where the family could feel very comfortable and cozy. Two beautiful exterior spaces – a lanai with fireplace and brick patio area off the lower level create luxurious outdoor living spots. Other details were planned into the home to capture the details and quality of a bygone era in home-building with gallery spaces and vestibules, a large built-in butler’s pantry, built-in china cabinet, special ceiling treatments, etc. Other convenience features were planned and built-in as well, such as a coffee and beverage bar in the master bedroom and a staircase in the garage to the finished lower level. We love working with clients looking for something a little different or something a little unique to suit their tastes and lifestyle. Contact DH Custom Homes today to find out more.
