A Unique Renovation in Chesterfield

We’re very excited to be working on a renovation in Chesterfield. The clients purchased a villa earlier this year knowing that they wanted to do some updates; we were able to meet and put together detailed plans and a budget before they finalized the sale so they knew their vision was feasible. Once their existing home sold, we were able to get to work quickly, beginning the first stage of demolition in August.

One unique aspect of this project is that the homeowners are living in the home while the renovation is completed. We have carefully scheduled and staged the entire project around them to make the process as convenient and painless as possible.

Another unique aspect of the project is that the clients are interested in salvaging – or reusing some of the items in their home in the renovation as well as donating some items. This can be a cost-saving measure when taking on a large renovation project, and it gives items that would otherwise end up in a landfill another home, which was very important to the homeowners. We are reusing several items in the kitchen including the kitchen sink faucet and food waste disposal as well as the existing baseboards throughout a large portion of the home.

The remodel includes new job-finished red oak hardwood flooring as well as a new high-efficiency air conditioner and furnace. But perhaps the most dramatic portion of the project is the master bath, which is getting an entirely new layout – one which is more elegant and updated. The new look will feature double-bowl, adult-height vanity with Cambria Quartz top and Kohler soaking tub.  A new wall will create a room for the water closet and shower and a loft-like feel by not extending fully to the high, vaulted ceiling.

This renovation has definitely been an exciting project. There are even more details to check out, including turning the original dining room into an art studio. We’re starting demolition on the kitchen this week.
