A Room To View…A Lower Level Renovation

We are always excited when customers are more than pleased with their DH Custom Home or renovation project and we would like to share one such family and their story.

Harry and Clotiel Finney contacted DH Custom Homes after being referred by Clotiel’s sister.  They would be the first renovation client for DH Custom Homes.  Dennis met with the couple in their home in Lake Saint Louis and discussed finishing the lower level of their newer home.  As part of the initial conversation, Harry wanted the plans to include a future home theater.   After discussing their ideas for the room, Dennis sketched a plan and put the couple in touch with CDI – Custom Design & Installation, a vendor we often use for sound and video installations.  Harry and Clotiel discovered that their aspirations for a home theater did not have to be put on hold.  Working with Dennis and the representative at CDI they were able to finish the lower level in one phase.  The plans included a wet bar, billiard area, an exercise room, office for Clotiel and a spacious home theater.   Throughout the lower level you will find great details such as the luxurious stained woodwork and elevated stage area in the theater room, the beautiful glass tile backsplash in the wet bar area and the open feeling created by the use of double French doors in the exercise room and office gives the space.

Dennis had a chance to ask the homeowner, Harry, a few questions about their experience:

Dennis: Were you satisfied with your choice to use DH Custom Homes?

HarryVery satisfied!  Everyone was excellent to work with from you to Bob, Laura, Jim and even the vendor representatives were so concerned to do a good job and very polite.  The job was completed very professionally.  When the job was over, we missed them.

Dennis: How are you using your home theater?

Harry: Clotiel and I use the room at least 3 times a week to watch Blu Ray movies. We enjoy comedies and drama movies. We very much enjoy the room.

DennisSpeaking of the theater room, how is the sound transmission from this room into the rest of the house?

HarryDennis, if we crank it up very, very loud you can hear the sound upstairs, however, when it is kept at a level loud enough to satisfy anyone in the room, at those levels you cannot hear anything outside this room, even if you are coming down the stairs. What you did to control the sound was very effective.

Dennis: Would you have done anything differently, now that it is complete?

Harry: Not one thing! Thank you to the Finneys for choosing DH Custom Homes and for inviting us into their home to provide a beautiful lower lever renovation with great entertainment and functional areas. We enjoyed being a part of the transformation.
